With a jaunty fresh redesign based on the theme WP-Pixels and the color scheme of Small Studio, I think we brought in the fresh look we were going for.

Also, we moved all the content over to a mapped domain in a WordPressMU subdirectory install. From an administrative perspective, Ron & I can now manage three of our sites from within one admin area, and within one web account.

We had to figure out how to categorize businesses as blogs, plus provide them with an easy to fill out profile that would automatically show up on the front side. Users would also have to pay to have a listing, and could choose to blog there or feed in their own blog posts via RSS. Everything should happen smoothly from signup to finished listing on the user end, and it does. It also integrates visually with their existing site.

Interested parties can read the blog posts on the main page, categorized by profession, or search for professionals by two criteria: State or Profession.

The Queercents Professional Directory

Wanderlust and Lipstick is a travel site devoted to women traveling solo or in groups, which they also arrange. You can follow along their adventures, as there are many writers who go to various interesting places all over the globe.

Beth came to us with a redesign in mind, and a need to troubleshoot some issues and move hosts.

The main page of the site is a mashup of featured articles and new blog posts, as well as ads and further site information. The banner image changes on refresh, and there are extensive widget areas for the site owner to easily change information. There’s even an integrated gallery feature. A sitewide search uses Google.

For the main blogs page, it pulls in member blog posts, along with author avatars. There’s a list of separate blog feeds and sitewide comments.

The site also makes use of an extensive use of pages, which we helped categorize and organize with a sub-navigation menu.

On the main homepage of the site, we went through a couple of minor design changes. There are standard sitewide elements present to pull visitors further into the site. We also custom-coded a featured posts area so the site admins could quickly and easily choose certain posts for the main page.

In addition to the custom home page, we also created a default member blog theme. Many extra theme designs were provided, but all of them maintained the same structure. In this way, we were also able to educate the clients on how to quickly create new theme styles for their users.
